The Adelaide Hostel is centrally located just two short blocks from Union Square, the heart of the downtown shopping and theater district. Conveniently located near the BART subway train, MUNI train/ buses, Cable Car, Alcatraz, Moscone Center, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, it is easy to get anywhere from the Adelaide.

The Adelaide Hostel sits in small side street named after the dancer Isadora Duncan who was born next door. The little street is on the left of Taylor Street if you are heading up the hill, between Geary and Post Street.

How to Get to the Adelaide Hostel San Francisco

From San Francisco Airport (Taxi/Uber/Lyft)

Cabs cost around $50 from the airport to our door, maybe the best option for a group of 4 people or if you have heavy luggage.

The pick up area is right outside of the arrivals gate.

From San Francisco Airport (Shuttle)

There are currently no shuttle discounts since the Covid lockdown, we hope to renew our partnerships soon.

From San Francisco Airport ( BART Subway Train)

The BART subway train goes downtown from the International Terminal. This is most cost efficient way to get downtown unless you have really heavy luggage. The last trains  currently leave at 11:30pm and 12.00 midnight. Ticket cost  is around $10. Get off at Powell St. Station downtown.

From San Francisco Airport (Car)

1. Take US-101 N.
2. Take the DUBOCE AVE/MISSION ST exit.
3. Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp.
4. Turn RIGHT onto MISSION ST/US-101 N.
5. Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto S VAN NESS AVE/US-101
6. Turn RIGHT onto O'FARRELL ST.
7. Turn LEFT onto ISADORA DUNCAN LN.

From San Francisco Airport (Bus)

San Mateo County Transit (Samtrans) has Route 398, an express bus from the airport to downtown San Francisco and costs around $4.00.
See timetable and details here. These buses only accept limited amounts of luggage, so if you have a lot of bags this is not the best option.

Route 292 is a local bus to downtown San Francisco and costs  around $3.00. See here for details.

Buses run from the lower level (Level 1) of all terminals- just head downstairs and follow the signs for ground transportation.

All buses will stop on Mission Street in downtown SF, get off anywhere between 5th and 1st Street.

From San Francisco Airport (Taxi/Uber/Lyft)

For ride sharing, make sure you head to the correct waiting area (signposted).

From Golden Gate Bridge (Car)

1. Take US-101 onto the Golden Gate Bridge.
2. Take the Downtown US-101 exit.
3. Turn RIGHT onto VAN NESS St.
4. Turn LEFT onto O'FARRELL ST
5. Turn LEFT onto TAYLOR ST.
6. Turn LEFT onto ISADORA DUNCAN LN.

From Oakland/Bay Bridge (Car)

1. Take the I-80 W onto the SF/BAY BRIDGE.
2. Merge onto I-80 W.
3. Take the HARRISON ST exit.
4. Turn LEFT onto HARRISON ST.
5. Turn RIGHT onto 3rd ST.
6. 3rd ST becomes KEARNY ST.
7. Turn LEFT onto GEARY ST.
8. Take a RIGHT on Taylor Street and stay in the left hand lane.

From Powell St. Station Subway Stop (On Foot)

1. Take BART going towards San Francisco
2. Get off at the POWELL ST station.
3. Go NORTH onto POWELL ST.
4. Turn LEFT onto GEARY ST.
5. Turn RIGHT onto TAYLOR ST.
6. Turn LEFT onto ISADORA DUNCAN LN.

From San Francisco Ferry Building (On Foot or Car)

1. Start out going Northwest on THE EMBARCADERO
2. Turn LEFT onto WASHINGTON ST.
3. Turn LEFT onto MONTGOMERY ST.
4. Turn RIGHT onto MARKET ST.
5. Turn RIGHT onto TAYLOR ST.
7. Turn LEFT onto ISADORA DUNCAN LN.

From Salesfoce Transit Center (Walking)

1. Start out going North West on 2nd Street (towards Market St)
2. Cross Market St, turn left and walk to Post Street.
3. Head up Post Street and keep going 2 more blocks from Union Square.
4. Turn LEFT onto TAYLOR ST.
5. Turn RIGHT onto ISADORA DUNCAN LN. (Just down from the Owl Tree bar, there is a Dry Cleaners at the end of our alleyway)

Oakland Airport

Shuttles are expensive from Oakland due to heavy traffic and tolls on the Bay Bridge. Get the BART subway train from the terminal. There is a connector which takes you to the main BART station. From there board a San Francisco train (there are three differnet ones; San Francsico Airport, Milbrae or Daly City bound trains). Get off at Powell Street Station and follow walking directions above.
